Approval of motor vehicles and engines with regard to their emissions and battery life (Euro 7)
I voted against this report because road transport is the biggest source of pollution in European cities and is responsible for 70,000 deaths a year in the European Union. The industry, most Member State governments and most groups in the EP say that there is no money to invest in reducing pollution, which is a lie. Profits in the car industry have never been higher and car prices in recent years have risen mainly because producers have chosen to replace small cars with large, expensive SUVs. The European Commission estimated that the indications in the Euro7 report would lead to only a small increase in cars.
