Eventbrite: 'Roundtable breakfast discussion on methane from animal farming'
With COP27 only a few weeks away, it is time for the European Parliament to question whether the EU is on track to implement commitments made under the Global Methane Pledge adopted a year ago at COP26. While a methane regulation is underway to cut methane from the energy sector, more than half of EU's methane emissions come from livestock farming. However, policies to cut methane in this sector largely remain a blind spot for EU institutions.
This event, co-hosted by the Changing Markets Foundation, which launched a campaign called High Steaks dedicated to this issue a few months ago, will be an opportunity to identify gaps in current legislation, but also opportunities to raise the ambition through existing legislative proposals.
Moderated by Margherita Tolotto (Senior policy officer at EEB), the event will include contributions from MEP Francisco Guerreiro (Greens/EFA), MEP Eric Andrieu (S&D), MEP Jutta Paulus (Greens/EFA), MEP Anja Hazekamp (GUE/NGL), Nusa Urbancic (Campaigns Director at Changing Markets) and Julia Bognar (Senior policy researcher at Institue for European Environmental Policy).
If you do not have accreditation to access the European Parliament, please send an email to sophie.nodzenski@changingmarkets.org so that we can assist you.
