Brussels, February 9, 2023 - Francisco Guerreiro along with 37 fellow MEPs sent a letter to the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, with questions regarding the European Parliament's use of surveillance cameras equipped with facial recognition capabilities. 


In this letter, the MEPs explain that they were alarmed to read in a letter from the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) that, according to a 2015 tender, the European Parliament sought to purchase CCTV cameras equipped with facial recognition capabilities.
