MEPs united in combating violence against women
Brussels, 30 November 2020 – In a letter addressed to the President of the European Commission (EC), 74 MEPs from 5 political groups call for the fulfillment of the commitments on gender equality by combating violence against women and girls.
They also recall that the Istanbul Convention is the most comprehensive legal framework for combating gender-based violence and that the EC must take all necessary measures to ensure its rapid ratification by the European Union.
The letter was an initiative of MEP Sylwia Spurek and is part of the campaign 'I Stand Up for Women'.
