Nuctech: MEPs ask Commission President about Chinese state-owned company
Brussels, March 23, 2023 - Francisco Guerreiro, together with other fellow MEPs, sent a letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, questioning the security of the Chinese company Nutech and asking the Commission not to use €1 billion from the EU Customs Control Equipment Instrument (CCEI) to further solidify Nuctech's presence in Europe.
In this letter, MEPs stress that the US, Lithuania and Canada have already banned the company from participating in their government contracts, as they have concluded that it can be used for technical and internal espionage.
