A strong social Europe for just transitions (A9-0233/2020 - Dennis Radtke, Agnes Jongerius)
I endorse the content of this report, and it deserves my vote in favour, as it outlines the relevance of the immediate adoption of clear and ambitious measures towards the sustainable change of the European economy, combined with the creation of quality jobs in the long term, in order to overcome the climate crisis and the worsening of the social problems magnified by the pandemic that devastated Europe.
Therefore, there is an urgent need to implement the 20 fundamental principles included in the European Pillar of Social Rights, in order to guarantee full protection for all European citizens.
On the positive side, there is an emphasis given to the need to reduce the gender employment gap in the renewable energy sector; the implementation of a legal framework on wage transparency, in order to close the gender pay gap; the consolidation and development of the rights to abortion, contraception and reproductive health; the stressing of the just green and digital transition, based on appropriate support for education and social care and healthcare infrastructures, as well as the reference to the fundamental right to decent and accessible housing for all, striving for the consummation of an ambitious plan for the integration of all homeless people by 2030.
