Framework of ethical aspects of artificial intelligence, robotics and related technologies (A9-0186/2020 - Ibán García Del Blanco)

I voted in favour of this report because it emphasized, through recommendations, the relevance of establishing a set of ethical aspects to verify in the field of artificial intelligence, robotics and related technologies.

This area has an increasingly strategic relevance, with inescapable ethical, legal, social and economic repercussions, and it is essential to complement the current legislation, in order to enhance the protection of citizens' rights in the face of tremendous technological developments, while keeping the evolution of innovation indexes. These should be placed at the service of European citizens and economies, with the present report manifesting, at the same time, a clear intention not to hinder the increase of the parameters of a sustained innovation and taking into account environmental vectors.

Consequently, a plan should be devised that establishes fundamental vectors that are consistent with European values, based on the consolidation of the single market, data protection, respect for the privacy of citizens, the promotion of equality and the fight against discrimination, the fulfillment of consumer rights protection and environmental protection.
