Just Transition Fund (A9-0135/2020 - Manolis Kefalogiannis)

I voted against the report of the Just Transition Fund (JTF) because it includes clauses to support investments in the gas sector. This inclusion contradicts one of the fund's main purposes - to ensure the transition to an economy with a neutral climate impact.

It also contradicts the position of the Council of Ministers voted at the beginning of this year, stating that the JTF should not support such investments and doesn’t support the pollution reduction targets already set by the EU, let alone the most recent and ambitious ones, announced by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (reduction of at least 55% of greenhouse gases by 2030).
