LSM.LV Public broadcasting of Latvia: 'Will Europeans have to eat less meat?'
Many of the discussions will take place in English and are led by LTV's respected international correspondent Ilze Nagla. As the name suggests, the idea is that people with opposing views on an issue come together to thrash things out in a 'duel' format.
However, this first discussion is perfectly civilized asks whether Europeans will be willing to cut back on meat production and consumption in order to reduce climate-changing emissions and other environmental damage.
Joining Ilze Nagla in Brussels are MEPs Esthere de Lange from the Netherlands (European Peoples Party), and Francisco Guerreiro from Portugal (Greens/European Free Alliance).
The Brussels discussions are bolstered by local Latvian-language debates on the same issues, which will likely be a bit spicier. You can see the list of topics that will be covered at the dedicated Būris web page on LSM. These include vaccination, multiculturalism, hate speech, euthanasia and other controversial themes.
Discussions are available to watch on the LTV player and as Spotify podcasts. The Būris project is co-financed by the European Union.
